Going acroos the univers is vertually inpossible. Now in the movie "Across The Universe" staring Jim Sturgess as "Jude" and Evan Rachel Wood as "Lucy", written by Dick Clement and Lan Le Frenais you get the feeling the universe isnt so big. The story follows through Jude's journey to America from Liverpool, England to meet his dad durring WWII. Jude then meets Max a classic screw up. Jude then falls in love with Max's sister Lucy. Jude and Max travel to New York where they become part of a hippy home, and Max gets his military draft notice. Across the Universe" was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for its unique theatrical musical romance. Its nomminations were well diserverd.
Julie Taymor did an excelent job on the background music using songs by The Bettles to capture not only the viewers but the emphasis on the movies situations. Such as when Prudence locks her self in the closet and Sadie, Jude, Lucy, and Max begin to sing "Dear Prudence" to lour her out. Anothe great use of music was durring the Detroit riot in 1943 where is went through some of what happen while Jude singing "Revolution".
The costume design was decent. It showed not only how the hippeys dressed but also how many dressed over seas. The colaborations of colors were well fitted to Sadies life style, such as when she made JoJo wear somthing similar to a purple robe for a concert. Now Jude's dressing was a little more dull, his clothing showed he wasnt wealthy and demonstrated his struggle. The most fitting costume for me was when Max was in his military uniform, the uniform was very much like the actual uniforms worn in WWII.
My overall reaction was a bit confused it took me a second time to watch to truly capture and understand the meaning for it. The quality of this film is mediocer due to the lack of high definition cameras in the mid 2000s. Potential viewers should watch this movie with no iteruptions or possibly confusen in the story line.

One Second I'm In One Second I'm Not #26
As 4th period comes to an end, and the bell is about to ring, I want to get out the door and get to my next class. Now the way I go about things are a little different. I really want to run as fast as I can and push every nerd out of my way, books and all. I just want to get out of the worst building at this school, Holmes Hall. This building has to be the worst thing on this earth. Why would I want to stay in there? I dread going to English class every day in this hideous hall that has a horrible odor. So as class winds to an end I not only want to put the jets on and get out of there, I want, better yet need some fresh air.
As 4th period comes to an end, and the bell is about to ring I want to finish my work and put off going to my next class as long as I can. See, I hate my 5th period and love my 4th so leaving is kin of hard. I just wish I could stay in there for the rest of the day. As I get up to walk out, I look for any little thing to keep me in there, even if it's just picking up some trash. I even ask my teacher if she needs help with anything, knowing I don't really want to do it, but I'd do anything to put off the walk through that door to leave. When I finally have no choice but to leave, I feel like a pirate having to walk the plank....
